To KS and Back

I just got back from a five day trip to KS to see my family and see my family I did! Except for my brother. He stayed in Virginia. We missed him. It was a relaxing week for me - taking naps, watching L. and Jesse play checkers, making puppy chow and cream of tomato soup. Susan says the week was slightly less relaxing for her. That's 'cause she did all the work while I relaxed.

Some highlights : reading Deep Creek stories, opening Christmas gifts, walking to the park in the 60+ degree evening, playing Chinese Checkers as a family, attending Christmas Eve service at Hopewell Pres. Church with Grandmother, watching the snow lazily drift, playing tickle wars with Lucinda, planning a wedding with Susan, baking coffee cake for the family, savouring limeades at the soda fountain, being surprised Christmas morning by Dad's biscuits and gravy.

Then I finished up today by grabbing a pair of Dad's farm overalls and heading out to do cattle chores with Mother and Daddy. The weather was beautiful, the cows were bossy, and the fence was stubborn (I got it open by myself, but Dad had to help me shut it.) and it just made me want to stay there forever - surrounded by people who love me, a dog who wants my attention, and a kitten that purrs in my arms.

And now I'm back here in Dallas - where God has called me, surrounded me with people who love me, and eagerly awaits for me to keep seeking Him.

Sounds like you had a nice Christmas! But whose wedding were you planning?

I totally know what you mean!! (Even though I have people who love me and a kitten that purrs in my arms at my own house, sometimes I just want to retreat to homehome too!)
