Tuscola, TX

A few random notes:

  • A belated thank you to the anonymous person who gifted me with dress slacks. I didn't even know where Tuscola, TX was until I checked a map. I still don't know anyone from that area... I don't think. Apparently you know me. Hopefully you're reading this -- thank you!

  • A praise for the growth and fruit that we continue to see in our lives here in the Intern House! I've seen many a situation in the past two weeks where our reactions were much different than they would have been four months ago. God is faithful!

  • This last weekend was set aside as a GFA staff retreat time. It was a time of fellowship, laughter, canoeing, hair braiding, conversation, and attitude adjustment! :) I'll try to put up a fun picture when I get my pictures off my camera.

Somedays I love my job...

It was a blessing to spend a few minutes with my interns this evening, pausing to look at what God had been doing in their lives in the last four months. Whether the Lord has been growing us in understanding His love, being more gracious, having a teachable spirit, or whatever else, it was a good time just to stop and praise Him.

Thanks for all your prayers as we continue to grow. You're more a part than you know!

Newsletters Finished

It was a beautiful day here -- cloudy and in the 70's. It was my last lazy Saturday for several weeks, so I used it to get my room clean and the floors mopped and bank errands done. And I got all my newsletters put in envelopes. And I got a nap! Now we're looking forward to an evening with a family of girls while their parents head out on a date. Ah, for quiet weekends.

Mosque in Hyderabad, India

With all of the unrest in the world, this headline of a bomb exploding at a mosque in Hyderabad isn't particularly more newsworthy than any other other tragic event. Seven people were killed in the initial blast, two more were killed in protests with police, and three more bombs were defused.

It just makes it a little more real when I see the photos and realize that I've stood in that same place that the photographer was standing. And I would dig around in my archive files, I would find a picture much the same -- only without all the police in gray suits.
Let's use this as a reminder to pray. Email me if you want specific prayer requests.

Failing Resolutions

So... my resolution to keep my blog updated has ended up as happening as the rest of my recent resolutions. Maybe you can pray for self-discipline for me.

Praises and prayers:
  • I got my newsletter written - about 60 of them are stuffed and need mailed out. Pray for the rest that need done. :)
  • The Lord opened up an opportunity for me to share the Gospel with my auto mechanic. Pray for Brian as the Lord is working in his heart.
  • Praise God for a safe trip to Kansas last weekend and a wonderful time with my family.
  • Praise God that my brother has a job in VA starting June 4th. He'll actually be moving out there this coming Monday.
  • Praise God for His peace and grace and rest in the midst of the battle. Pray that I wouldn't slack off with the lessening of crisis, but that I would be strengthened in the Lord for whatever He has ahead.
  • Thank you for your prayers for the interns and myself -- God continues to show us His faithfulness in tangible ways and encourage us.

Random quote from this week: We need to allow ourselves to be captivated by God instead of absorbed by our problems.

Praise and Prayer

Let's see if this actually works -- I'll try to post prayer requests every Sunday/Monday and post corresponding praises at the end of the week or with the next week's prayer requests.

Prayer requests for this week:
  • Pray for good times with the Lord -- especially the morning times.
  • Pray that I get my newsletter written for all of you to read!!! (Not on my newsletter list? Drop me an email and I'll send you a pdf copy.)
  • Pray for each of the intern girls and myself as we continue to grow in the Lord and become more like Him. Pray that we would have patience and diligence as He works on us.
  • Pray that I would get the "GFAnet documentation" finished and sent to the international offices this week.
  • Pray for my family and friends who are finishing up finals/graduating/finding jobs.
  • Pray for a safe trip for me as I head to KS this weekend for my brother's graduation.
  • Pray for GFA Missionary Kundan in Himachal Pradesh, India. You can read more about his ministry and how the Lord is working through him at the gfa.org website.

How can I be praying for you this week? I'm serious! Post your request or email me. I praise God for you!

Roses for the day

I arrived at the office yesteday with a bad attitude and found roses at my desk. They were a thank you gift from one of the other staff ladies. They were a beautiful blessing on a rough day -- Thank you!
