Carrying a water pot

In India, you never see a man carrying a water pot. The ladies do that. We asked Pastor Daniel. He verified. The ladies always carry the water pots.

Luke. Chapter 22. Jesus tells his disciples to go into the town and prepare the passover. When asked where to do it, he tells them that as they enter the town, there will be a man with a water pot. They should follow him to the house where he goes and he will arrange it.

Of course the disciples obey him and it all happens just like he says (suprise, suprise).

So...just why was that guy carrying a water pot? And what did God tell him?

VA, Training, and the Creek

Last weekend saw me in VA spending time with my sister C. I enjoyed sister time, a pig roast, sharing about GFA at her home church, walking with C and her fiance, petting kittens, and hiking a small piece of the Appalachian Trail. I did not enjoy rushing through the DC airport and almost missing my flight. Excitement!

This week was medium busy and next week is extremely busy. We're planning Excel training for the office staff on October 10th. The new version of GFAnet (our intranet) needs to be live at the end of next week. We have visitors in the office, new Helpdesk Assistant starting on Tuesday, and the change of our office from a T1 line to FIOS for our internet happening very soon.

After a busy week, this Saturday was also appropriately busy. I got my bike from its temporary home and visited the office, a friend's home, the donut shop, the post office (thanks, Kate!), the bank, and home... only about 5 miles total. The afternoon included wading through the creek at Arbour Hills with two GFA youngsters. My car got its annual inspection this evening. I'm just a little wiped. :)

What's the hurry?

I just finished running the sound board at GFA's bi-monthly Ladies' Meeting.  Gisela shared stories from Joshua -- how the tribes entered into the land of Canaan, but very few actually went out and possessed the land.  Most of them just stayed where they were, living in one corner of their territory.  Perhaps they asked, "What's the hurry?  We're here now.  The land isn't going anywhere."  But by not possessing the land, they missed many of God's blessings AND had a good deal more trouble down the road.

Where am I in my spiritual life?  Am I camping out, content with where I am?  Am I smug in my knowledge of salvation, but forgetting that God has promised us power to be His witnesses, faith that has overcome the world, His love shed abroad in our hearts?  What have we not possessed?  And how long will we put it off?

Happy Birthday, Susan!

To my favorite sister named Susan - May the Lord continue to pour out His grace and strength and love through you as you live for Him at SC.  Happy Birthday!

Tuesday Prayer Meeting

Quote from Brother K.P.'s sharing time during tonight's prayer meeting: Only eternity will show what your life has meant here on earth.

He also prompted us to ask ourselves, "Am I committing my life right now to do what He wants me to do or am I focusing instead on my present difficulties?"

Prayer requests for our South Korean office that is starting up:
-pray for needed government registration
-pray for a car for our Korean director's family
-pray for skilled IT and web people for the Korean office in Seoul
-pray for many connections between our Korean staff and Godly pastors in Korea.

Updating?

I don't know if you can tell, but not having internet access at home is sure putting a crimp in my blogging style. I really need to figure out a different time to do it. Perhaps if I come in to the office before morning prayer meeting an additional few minutes...

The big news... I've moved in to a new apartment (last weekend), the additional software training at the office has gone tremendously well, and my newsletter is on it's way to you... well, probably next Tuesday.

One of our US staff couples is celebrating their 15th anniversary this weekend, so I'm at their house watching their kids. It's been a good afternoon and evening. Special thanks go to Hez who watched the kids for me while I enjoyed supper with yet another staff family. But I'm back with the kids now and they've been tucked in for the night.

I praise God for the opportunity I have to encourage and bless other staff families in their personal lives and ultimately in their service to the Lord. Thanks for being a part of it!
